Certified Flight Instructors
Brad Payne: Chief Flight Instructor
Brad joined Professional Air in January 2015 as Chief Flight Instructor. He is an Eastern Oregon native and was introduced to aviation by his father at a young age. Brad earned a degree in Aviation Science in 1980 and has logged over 10,000 hours as pilot in command. Brad’s aviation experiences range from back country flying in a Piper Cub to fire fighting in a C-130. (He would love to share the possible career paths that are available to you!)
Brad settled in La Grande, OR and served as the Manager of Union County Airport for 12 years. In his spare time, he partnered with a friend and operated a builder’s assistance program for experimental planes. Brad also served as an experimental test pilot and trainer for a line of turbine aircraft and had the chance to travel abroad in this role. He was Director of Operations for an aerial fire fighting company and had the opportunity to fly heavy air tankers and air attack for the USFS. He traveled all across the US as a flight trainer, and served as an FAA check airman.
Today, you can find Brad hanging out with his wife and kiddos and trying to get in an occasional motorcycle ride. He loves the outdoors, animals, and likes to be active in his community. Naturally, Brad loves aviation because of its diversity and the fact that you never get bored. If you are considering a career or recreation in Aviation, make an appointment with Brad and he will help you create an individual plan to meet your aviation goals.

He was a line technician while earning all of his ratings, and eventually became a flight instructor. He loves teaching people how to fly especially when it's been their lifelong dream. Although he spends most of his time teaching, he spends his time off working hard at his own personal development as a pilot. Austin's goals are to either become a corporate pilot or fly for the airlines, loft goals indeed!
Ryen Farnworth: Certified Flight Instructor
Ryen moved to Central Oregon from southern California 2 years ago to attend the COCC aviation program and fly at Pro Air. After taking almost a year off he realized he needed to get back in the air and finish all his ratings. When he’s not teaching students how to fly, you can find him doing anything that involves the outdoors. He loves mountain biking, hiking, and enjoying all that Bend has to offer. His goals are to fly anything that has two engines or more, whether that be for the airlines or a corporate flight department.
